REPORT FRAUD
The escalation of fraudulent insurance claims, in its different forms, is a serious problem to insurance companies and their honest policyholders. Reporting insurance fraud is in your best interest because it costs you and the insurance industry money. Statistics indicate that more than 10 percent of every insurance dollar paid goes to make up for insurance claims fraud.
Indications of Fraud
Recent increase in coverage
Loss occurred shortly after inception date of policy or shortly before expiration of policy period.
Insured verifies existence and extent of coverage shortly before loss
Over-familiarity with claims process
Any indication that the business is having financial difficulties or has an immediate need for funds.
Unusual presence of combustible materials not normally present on the premises.
Presence of multiple fires; accelerants.
Damaged property discarded or not readily available for inspection.
Insured is difficult to contact.
Insured is overly pushy for quick settlement.
   
American Coastal maintains an SIU (Special Investigation Unit) to specifically review claims for fraud. If you have reason to believe that insurance fraud has been committed, do your part by passing that information along to us. Every tip we receive is investigated and you can report your suspicions of fraud confidentially. Make your fraud report by calling 1-877-284-4900 or e-mailing claims@amrisc.com. You can also report fraud to the National Insurance Crime Bureau at 800-TEL-NICB (800-835-6422); or
